New Nightjet to Vienna and Innsbruck
18 March 2025
Introduction new Nightjet
Since December 2023, the new trains have been running on the Hamburg - Innsbruck and Hamburg - Vienna routes. In the coming years, more and more routes in the Nightjet network will be renewed, including connections to and from the Netherlands. From 28 May 2025, these trains will also run between Amsterdam and Vienna and Innsbruck.
New functions and facilities
The new Nightjet trains have a new design. All compartments have a control display for easy adjustment of lighting and other comfort features. There is also free Wi-Fi and an information system with up-to-date travel information. New windows provide better mobile phone coverage.
In addition, CCTV in the corridors and electronic access control ensure a safe and secure journey. For passengers with reduced mobility, there are accessible compartments with adjacent toilets and level boarding.
Three types of accomodation
The new night trains like the current trains, have three types of accommodation. You can book a seat, a coucette and a berth.
Seat car
The new seat cars feature seats with folding armrests and additional storage and reading lights. You can easily charge your electronic devices wirelessly or with USB ports and sockets.
You can safely store your luggage in a system that uses contactless technology (NFC) for added convenience and security. And ground-level boarding makes the train accessible to everyone.
Couchette en mini cabin
The redesigned couchettes combine comfort and flexibility. Families and groups can enjoy modern 4-person compartments with fixed beds for more privacy and space.
There are also the innovative mini cabins, ideal for individual travellers seeking extra privacy. These compact sleeping cabins are equipped with practical features such as a reading light, storage space and a folding table. From XX 2025 you can book these mini cabins on routes to Vienna and Innsbruck.
Sleeping cars
For ultimate comfort, the sleeping compartments are designed with fixed beds and en-suite facilities. The standard sleeping compartments have a toilet and washbasin, while the deluxe version also has a shower. There is a cosy seating area next to the beds.
The new Nightjet: comfort and sustainability combined
This new generation of Nightjet trains makes sustainable travel across Europe not only more comfortable, but also more inviting. Whether you choose a comfortable seat, a flexible berth or a luxurious sleeping car, the new Nightjet has something for everyone. Prepare for a relaxing journey and discover Europe in a climate-friendly way.
