1. A walk past the highlights of Berlin

Stroll around Berlin for hours and let yourself be fascinated by the eventful history and remarkable cultural sector. We recommend the 12 kilometre walk through East Berlin between Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Bahnhof Alexanderplatz. NS’s free walk route around Berlin will first take you in the along city districts bordering on the north bank of the Spree River. Along the way, you will see remains of the Berlin Wall, courtyards and Oranienburgerstraße in the Jewish Quarter and the photogenic Bode Museum.

The second half of the walking tour, which includes even more Berlin highlights, starts at Alexanderplatz. Admire the Berliner Dom, Humboldt University, Konzerthaus Berlin, and many other historical buildings. Then, walk back to the starting point via the Brandenburg Gate and the famous Unter Den Linden avenue. You will pass several museums along the way. 2. A walk along the Berlin Wall

In 1989, the Berlin Wall, which encircled West Berlin for 28 years, came down. The wall was more than 45 kilometres long and is a symbol of the Cold War. Where the Wall used to be, there is now the 160-kilometre long Mauerweg.

Choose one of the 14 stages for your walk along the Berlin Wall and visit historical sites such as the remains of the wall, the border crossing at Bornholmer Strasse and the Brandenburg Gate. Along the route, panels inform you about the history of the various places.

3. A walk through the Jewish Quarters in Berlin

The Jewish Quarter of Berlin is located in the districts Spandauer Vorstadt and Scheunenviertel. Here you will find the New Synagogue with its golden dome, restored to a near-new condition after the Second World War. During your walk through the Jewish Quarter, you should also check out the other historical buildings in Oranienburgerstraße and Auguststraße.

4. Walk through Berlin's most famous city park

Do you need some peace and quiet in nature inbetween shopping or visiting museums in Berlin? Then relax in the Tiergarten city park. You can take a lovely walk in the park, covering more than two hundred hectares. The park is centrally located and well accessible by public transport. Stray from the main paths and visit the winding forest trails and idyllic ponds.

In the middle of the park is the Siegessäule, a victory column with the goddess Victoria at the top. You will have a fantastic view of the city from the viewing platform. Cafe am Neuen See has a beer garden where you can enjoy the fresh green park while having a drink.

5. Strolling through Berlin's shopping streets

We recommend a trip to Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin's trendiest district, if you like shopping. Browse through exclusive shops, unique boutiques and galleries, and stroll along the Kastanienallee.
