Intercity Brussels becomes Eurocity Direct and EuroCity

Starting Sunday, 15 December 2024, NS and the Belgian operator NMBS will double the number of trains between the Netherlands and Belgium, increasing from 16 to 32 times a day. Eurocity Direct will connect Amsterdam with Brussels in just 2 hours and 8 minutes. This new service complements the existing intercity connection between Rotterdam, Breda, and Brussels, known as EuroCity.

New route Eurocity Direct and EuroCity

Eurocity Direct is the fast and comfortable train that more frequently connects the capitals of Amsterdam and Brussels. The train departs from Lelystad Centrum and travels via Almere and Amsterdam Zuid towards to Belgium.

Travelling to or from Amsterdam Central Station

When travelling to or from Amsterdam Central, you can take

  • the train that runs between Amsterdam Central and Schiphol Airport. This train runs every 10 minutes.
  • You can also take the 52 metro, which runs between Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Zuid.

The EuroCity

EuroCity is the train that runs from Rotterdam Central along the same route as Intercity Brussels ran. It also runs 16 times a day.
