Station Cologne Central Station
The train to Cologne arrives at Köln Hauptbahnhof station, the main station in Cologne. An Intercity train will take you from Amsterdam Central Station to Cologne Central Station in 2.38 hours. From the main station, you can easily walk into the city centre.
What to do around Köln Hauptbahnhof
From Cologne Central Station, you can easily walk to the city centre. Next to the station is the famous Kölner Dom. Continue along the Rhine for beautiful views and sights such as the Hohenzollernbrücke with its love locks. The historic Altstadt is just steps away, where you can enjoy traditional Cologne hospitality in local pubs and restaurants. Several museums, such as the Ludwig Museum of Modern Art, are within walking distance. Relax in the Rheingarten or on one of the many terraces along the river.
Cologne Central Station and Cologne Messe/Deutz Station
The station near the Cologne Fair, Köln Messe/Deutz, is officially called ‘Köln Messe/Deutz’. An important transport hub for both regional and long-distance trains, this station is located near Cologne's fair and exhibition halls (Köln Messe) and the Deutz district.
Sometimes, ICE does not stop at Köln Hauptbahnhof but at Köln Messe/Deutz due to engineering works on the tracks near Cologne. You can travel by train between the two stations, but a walk can also be enjoyable! The attached one-minute video shows the route from Messe/Deutz to the central station. The walk takes about 25 minutes and goes over the bridge with the colourful locks.
